AceDev/Knowledge Integration

for Placer CORE Charter School Colfax Center Computer Classes

Instructor: Mark Graybill

Grading Standards

Grades are based on the following:

  • 1/3 Attendance
  • 1/3 Class Participation
  • 1/3 Class Assignments

Grade Calculation

Students are graded from 0-100% in each area, then the areas are averaged to obtain the final score. Grades are then assigned on a standard scale: 90% or better = 'A', 80-89% = 'B', 70-79% = 'C', 60-69% = 'D', <60% = 'F'

Absences

Excused absences will not count against the student.
Students who have absences excused may receive make-up work for classes missed. Full credit will be given if the make-up work is returned on time. The deadline will be established when the work is assigned. Students should request make-up work at or before the day they return to class. Parents may also request make up assignments from me on behalf of their students.
If an absence is anticipated, such as a family trip, contact me ahead at least 2 school days of time to receive work that can be performed while away.

The attendance portion of the grade calculation is classes attended divided by total classes, minus excused absences. The result is multiplied by 100 to obtain a percentage.

Tardiness

In addition to CORE Placer Charter School's policy on tardiness, the tardy student's class grade will be affected. Tardiness will be treated as a one-half unexcused absence for the class day. Tardiness may be excused in the same manner as absences, and for the same reasons (contact Placer Core Charter School for information on acceptable absences.) Likewise, it is the responsibility of the student to request make-up work for the class time missed. This must occur outside the normal class time to avoid further disruptions of class.

Participation

Students are expected to arrive on time and ready for class. They are expected to meet CORE Placer's standards for class participation and behavior. This part of the grade also includes some of the exercises performed in class which are not part of larger projects, as well as constructive interaction with fellow students.

Assignments

Most assignments will be assigned as in-class work, though some assignments may require work outside of class. Deadlines will be provided at the time the assignment is given. See above for information on make up work.
